P.S. I should mention that I took this picture myself ... we were in a park nearby during the breeding season for golden orb spiders. There were probably thousands of these things hanging from the trees in giant webs. In some places, you could look up and see ten huge spiders right overhead. To get this photo, I had to get the camera right up next to a spider the size of my hand ... so you know, there's nothing I won't do for a good prompt.
Oh boy. I'm going to have nightmares tonight. I can't wait to get to the desert so I can breathe, but I'm really worried about the insects. I had ants, once, but that's about it.
Do those plug-in things work on those big spiders? The ones that supposedly emit a sound that scares them away?
Why, why, why, why, why?
ReplyDeleteI got chills just from the picture. :P
It's Halloween! Those are golden orb spiders. Each one is about 4 inches across.
ReplyDeleteThat 4-inches detail was entirely unnecessary, Jon! *shudder*
ReplyDeleteYou should have seen me freak out at the 3mm baby spider last night. Well. It's going to grow up, and where are its brothers and sisters???
